Northwest Health Offers Seminar about Innovative Sleep Apnea Treatment

For people with obstructive sleep apnea, restful sleep can feel frustratingly out of reach, particularly when standard treatments fall short. A new FDA-approved, implantable device may offer a breakthrough option for patients seeking lasting relief.

The community is invited to join Northwest Medical Group, Sleep Medicine Specialist and Pulmonologist, Marvi Bikak, M.D., for a free community seminar where she will discuss options for treating this breathing disorder, and the new device that keeps a person’s airway open while sleeping without a mask.
“About 40% of people with obstructive sleep apnea cannot tolerate CPAP therapy, but there’s a new innovative, implantable device called a hypoglossal nerve stimulator, that offers a new solution,” Dr. Bikak said.
The free seminar – “A New Sleep Apnea Treatment: Wake Up Rested Again” – will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, at Northwest Health – La Porte, Pine Lake Conference Room (first floor), 1331 State St., La Porte. The event will also cover:
- What causes obstructive sleep apnea
- Proven treatments
- Why some patients struggle with CPAP
- Who may benefit from the new implant
- What to expect from evaluation to recovery
Dr. Bikak will allow ample time for questions.
