On May 3, 2024, Northwest Health – Starke celebrated National Doctors’ Day by making a $2,000 donation to the Starke County Youth Club (SCYC) in honor of its medical staff. This significant gift will further SCYC’s mission to uplift and inspire Starke County’s community youth.
"We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering dedication of our medical staff, not only in their tireless work within the hospital walls but also in their compassionate outreach to support the youth of our county," said Simon Ratliff, Chief Executive Officer for Northwest Health – La Porte and Starke. "As healthcare professionals, we understand the importance of investing in the well-being and future of our youth, and we are honored to support such a worthy cause."
The donation from the Northwest Health – Starke medical staff will go towards funding various programs aimed at providing educational, recreational, and developmental opportunities for children and teenagers in Starke County. From after-school activities, morning care, and summer programs, SCYC strives to empower young individuals and foster a sense of belonging and achievement.
“At the Starke County Youth Club, we offer a constellation of activities. Whether it’s math, arts, sports, or science, our programs are designed to foster skills and confidence. These opportunities are crucial; they encourage our youth to think bigger and reach further, support working families, and build a better community,” said Irene Szakonyi, the Executive Director of the SCYC. “We are grateful to Northwest Health for supporting these programs and investing in our children's ability to reach for the stars.”
