Two Physicians Join Northwest Medical Group offices in Portage

Two physicians specializing in Internal Medicine are the most recent additions to Northwest Medical Group, the multi-specialty physician group affiliated with Northwest Health. Husband and wife team, Dr. Shaun Mehdi and Dr. Shazia Shivji are joining Primary Care offices in Portage.

Shazia Shivji, MD is an Internal Medicine physician who specializes in preventing, diagnosing and treating conditions and diseases in adults with the goal of helping them live a healthy and vibrant life. She offers both in-person and telehealth visits.
Dr. Shivji earned her medical degree from University of London, St. George’s Hospital Medical School in London, United Kingdom. She completed an internal medicine residency at Swedish Hospital in Chicago, IL.
Dr. Shivji chose to become an internal medicine physician because of the unique opportunity to follow a patient through the course of their entire life; through their physical and emotional challenges, as well as their successes and celebrations. It’s the relationships she develops with patients, and her ability to help them live longer, happier and healthier lives, that she finds rewarding.

Shaun Mehdi, DO, Internal Medicine physician is relocating from Northwest Medical Group’s office in Hobart, IN to a new office at 6200 Central Avenue in Portage that opens February 1. Dr. Mehdi specializes in preventing, diagnosing and treating conditions and diseases in adults to help them live a healthy, longer life. He offers both in-person and telehealth visits.
Dr. Mehdi received his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Chicago and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago.
Dr. Mehdi looks forward to getting familiar with the Portage area and surrounding communities. He enjoys developing strong, lifelong relationships with patients and their family members. His goal is to help his patients obtain optimal health, meet their healthcare goals, and help them manage their medical conditions.
